Blackpool is the epitome of the English seaside but Lancashire and Worcestershire will not be looking for a relaxing time.
They both desperately need to win this fixture for opposite reasons. Worcestershire have a real chance of avoiding relegation from County Championship Division One which appeared inevitable before the season started, after beating Sussex, while Lancashire's chances of winning the title were boosted by Durham's loss to Hampshire.
Michael Atherton always tried to play at this venue as it is normally a batting paradise which makes this an even more complex paring. The Pears' batting is fragile but has managed only one less bonus point than the hosts in one less game.
Somerset suffered Clydesdale Bank 40 defeat at the hands of Nottinghamshire on Monday and will need to avenge that to stay in the LV Championship title chase.
Somerset can be backed at4.33 to win the Clydesdale Bank 40 title this season whileMiddlesex are available at 13.00,Surrey at 4.00and Nottinghamshire at 7.50.
Yorkshire have lost their skipper Andrew Gale with a broken arm but must beat Sussex at Scarborough to have any chance of avoiding relegation. The home side have only beaten Worcestershire in this competition this season and, if Jacques Rudolph's team fail here, then Division Two beckons.
In Division Two, Northamptonshire face third-placed Derbyshire who boosted their hopes with a win last week. If the Wantage Road men can win this game they will be in an enviable position to clinch promotion.
With the game being at Chesterfield it should produce a winner but with the two best batting sides facing two of the three strongest bowling attacks it could go either way.
In the other games Essex and Gloucestershire meet at Colchester and both must win to help their diminishing promotion hopes.
Middlesex will be favourites to win at Canterbury but, with three men on Test duty and Kent's Darren Stevens and captain Robert Key in sparkling form, look out for a home win.
Glamorgan entertain Leicestershire at Colwyn Bay. This is a small ground and batsmen friendly. The sides have two of the three worst attacks in the division so expect a draw.
