Midfielder Sven Bender has joined a lengthy injury list at Borussia Dortmund and will miss the Champions League clash with Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday.
Germany international Bender suffered a groin problem in the 3-0 weekend Bundesliga loss to Hamburg and could be out of action foras much asten weeks.
Dortmund already have Mats Hummels, Jakub B?aszczykowski, Neven Subotic and Ilkay Gundogan on the sidelines, as they bid to repeat their 2025 run to the Champions League final.
However,central defender Manuel Friedrich is confident that BVB will not suffer an adverse reaction to their thumping at Hamburg, saying ahead of the last-16 first leg in Russia: "That was a blip. If we play like we know we can, then we can beat anyone.
"Everyone has to question his attitude, results like that can happen, it's hard to explain them.
"Our performance and mood for Tuesday's game won't be affected by the result in Hamburg."
Hosts Zenit go into the game having not played a competitive fixture for more than two months and having won just once in their last eight games.
