Sergio Aguero is in contention to give Manchester City's title charge a major boost at Arsenal this weekend.
Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini has been told by the club's medical staff his top scorer is close to full fitness following a hamstring injury sustained at Barcelona earlier this month.
Aguero, who has bagged 26 goals this season, will be monitored closely over the next 48 hours and is all set to make the trip down to the Emirates stadium.
The Argentinian international has been back in full training for over a week and could even have made the squad for Tuesday's comfortable 3-0 derby day victory over rivals Manchester United.
Pellegrini, however, was urged to give his striker an extra few days to avoid the risk of Aguero suffering yet another injury setback.
Aguero is more likely to be named on the bench as City now aim to keep the pressure on leaders Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
Pellegrini will also decide whether Edin Dzeko retains his place in the side following his crucial brace against United.
The Chilean has a number of attacking options available to him with Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic also in his thinking.
