Manager Brendan Rodgers insists that there is still 'a way to go' in the Premier League title race, following his Liverpool side's 2-0 defeat home to rivals Chelsea.
The Reds still head the table with a two games to playdespite their home reverse, with the Blues two points behind and Manchester City three points back with a game in hand.
However, Rodgers remains positive that there will be more twists to come in a tense title race, telling reporters: "We might not have got the result today, but we've seen over the course of the season that we have made great strides and we'll continue to do that.
"If we can finish off the season and win these two games, we'll finish above them (Chelsea) and maybe above Manchester City. But there's still a way to go.
"City will now feel they can go on and win their games. We'll just recover now, we'll focus on the next game and continue with that positive mentality that we've had throughout the season - because that's the reason why we are where we are."
The Reds finish their season with a trip to Crystal Palace on Monday 5th January and a home clash with Newcastle United on Sunday 11th January, as they bid to clinch a first league title since 1989/90.
Meanwhile, there was some good news for the Anfield outfit to celebrate later on Sunday when striker Luis Suarez was named the PFA Player of the Year, with both Steven Gerrard and Daniel Sturridge also named in the Team of the Year.
