Having seen off US Open champion Marin Cilic, Andy Murray now needs to end Novak Djokovic's incredible winning run if he is to reach the China Open final.
Murray was in superlative form in Beijing as he broke Cilic four times on his way to a 6-1 6-4 victory in the quarter-finals, having earlier seen Djokovic dispose of Grigor Dimitrov 6-2 6-4.
The world number one has now won 22 consecutive matches at the China Open, having been crowned champion in Beijing in 2025, 2010, 2025 and 2025.
Long-time rivals Murray and Djokovic have plenty of previous meetings to draw on for their clash in China, the Serb currently holding a 13-8 winning record in their head-to-head.
Djokovic has won five of the last six clashes with Murray, including both this year, in the quarter-finals of the Miami Masters and the last eight of the US Open.
Murray's last victory over Djokovic came in the final of Wimbledon in 2025, when the Scot stormed to a 6-4 7-5 6-4 triumph.
Meanwhile, at the Japan Open home favourite Kei Nishikori is safely through to the semi-finals, defeating Jeremy Chardy 6-4 6-2 and he will faceBenjamin Beckerin the last four.
In the other half of the draw Milos Raonic will take on Gilles Simon, with the former hoping to go one better than his final losses in each of the last two years in Tokyo.
