Sam Waley-Cohen has admitted he's looking forward to one of the most intriguing Gold Cups for a long time.
The amateur jockey will again be aboard Long Run and has revealed that several decisions about how the horse will be treated need to be decided.
He said: "Whichever horse wins it will need to run up to a mark it's never achieved before and that makes it a highly intriguing affair.
"Long Run is a quality animal who has never been out of the first three and even when he's not run up to his best he's been up there in the 160s."
One of the biggest decisions facing trainer Nicky Henderson, the jockey and his owner father is whether Long Run will be wearing headgear on the the big day.
He said: "He will be race ready on the day despite having a break and because he's pretty keen in the early stages, cheek pieces won't change that although they could near the end."
Waley-Cohen believes his sternest challenge will come from another inmate of the Henderson yard ? Bobs Worth.
He said: "He really is a very good horse indeed and has all the form in the book. He's the one to beat but it's a very interesting race indeed."
