Leeds Rhinos will be without Kevin Sinfield for Monday's Super League clash against Widnes Vikings as he needs surgery on the thumb he injured while on England duty.
The 32-year-old looks set to be sidelined until the end of January after suffering the injury in the first half of Friday's international origin match against the Exiles.
The stand-off played his part in England building up a 24-0 lead by half time but was missed in the second half as the Exiles hit back, the final score being 30-10.
Sinfield has featured in 97 consecutive Super League appearances for Leeds but Monday's match will be the Rhinos' first in three years that they have been without their captain.
Leeds have won their last six meetingsagainst Widnes but Zak Hardaker is wary of the Vikings, saying: "They will look at our injury list and they might fancy their chances."
Widnes coach Denis Betts has played down his side's chances of causing a major shock though, saying: "Leeds are a great side and you've only got to look at the last few years and see what they've achieved and where they are, to realise that.
"They've got so much quality and we know that we're going to have to go there and be at our best and be competitive."
