Roy Hodgson has added Joleon Lescott to his England squad for the games against San Marino and Montenegro after Aaron Lennon and Michael Dawson picked up injuries.
The Tottenham duo have had todrop out of thesquadas Lennon has a groin injury that forced him to miss Sunday's 1-0 home defeat to Fulham while Dawson was taken off at half-time with a hamstring strain.
Lennon picked up the injury during last Thursday's Europa league clash against Inter Milan.
"Lennon won't be able to make it. He has been struggling a lot with injuries. He is on the brink of rupturing his muscle," confirmed Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas.
Of Dawson, he added: "He felt his [hamstring] muscle going in the first half. If we had brought him on in the second half we would be risking him a major injury."
Manchester City defender Lescott has endured a difficult season and has been a peripheral figure in Roberto Mancini's first-team plans.
He did start the recent FA Cup sixth round victory against Barnsley but was an unused substitute for Saturday's 2-0 defeat at former club Everton.
England are due to report for duty at St George's Park on Monday evening when any further fitness concerns will be addressed.
