England bowler Steven Finn has insisted their final Test against New Zealand is still winnable despite the tourists struggling in the field on the opening day.
The Kiwis were put into bat by skipper Alastair Cook and, on a wicket that looked like it had something in it for the bowlers at Eden Park, New Zealand cruised 250-1 at the close of play on the first day.
Peter Fulton enjoyed a fine day with the bat and notched up 124 not out, whilst Kane Williamson added an unbeaten 83 to the scoreboard.
Finn, who took the only wicket of the day,and his fellow England bowlers were disappointed the wicket in Auckland didn't offer more but the seamerbelieves they still have a good chance of getting a result to clinch the series.
He said: "Looking at the wicket this morning it looked like there was a bit in it for the bowler.
"There was plenty of green grass on it but that just seemed to be holding the wicket together rather than offering us assistance. We did expect it to do more than it did but after realising that we stuck to our plans well.
"We only took one wicket, yes, but to keep them under three an over and not be too far out of sights is good."
