Jermain Defoe is expected to miss Tottenham's two Europa League clashes with FC Basel as well as Sunday's Premier League game against Everton because of injury.
The 30-year-old England international striker is expected to be ready to return to action in time to face Manchester City in the Premier League on 21st Januaryil.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that Defoe has sustained a muscle injury, but insists it is not a recurrence of the muscle tear the former Portsmouth forward suffered last month.
Sandro and Younes Kaboul (both knee) are also set to miss Thursday's Europa League quarter-final first leg encounter against Swiss side FC Basel, but goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is available after recovering from the knee problem that ruled him out of the weekend victory over Swansea City.
Meanwhile, midfielder Scott Parker is determined to lift this season's Europa League, which Spurs can be backed at3.25to achieve, and finish in the top four of the Premier League.
Parker, who missed the first half of the campaign with an Achilles problem, said: "You hear it all the time - this is the business end of the season.
"This is where it defines you. We have worked hard to get to this stage and are in the quarter-finals and are sitting healthy in the league.
"I suppose this is the most important point now. You need to maintain and keep picking up results and finish and maintain your objectives and get there at the end of the season.
"We have gone on a very good run and it is a tough competition with good teams in it. We wouldn't want to look too far ahead because obviously we have got two difficult games coming up, but you're at the business end now so there is a chance you can go all the way."
