Manchester United manager David Moyes believes his side can go on and win the Champions League, having reached the quarter-finals by seeing off Olympiacos.

The Red Devils won 3-0 at Old Trafford to win their last-16 tie 3-2 on aggregate, with Dutch striker Robin van Persie rising to the occasion in netting a hat-trick.

And Moyes is now bullish for the latter stages of the competition, even if he accepts that United will not be highly fancied to go all the way.

"We will probably go into the quarter-final tie as underdogs, but I don't see why not (we can't win the trophy)," Moyes told reporters.

"This football club is capable of it. If we play to our capabilities, which we've not shown that often this season, I think we can be a match for any team."

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Paris St Germain and Atletico Madrid complete the quarter-final line-up.

Moyes is also hoping that the win over Olympiacos can spark a late-season upturn in form, with United down in seventh place in the Premier League, having won just two of their last six league games.

He added: "I don't want to come out and say this is the moment (we turned things around), but in the same breath I really hope it is.

"But we know the job we have in hand and we know it is a work in progress and it is going to take time to get things exactly the way we want it."

Meanwhile Moyes is hopeful that the knee injury suffered by hat-trick Van Persie is not too serious, with the Scot adding: "I don't think he is too bad, he has got a knock just behind his knee."
