Mark Selby is on top of the world after a superb 18-14 win over Ronnie O'Sullivan in the World Snooker Championship final at the Crucible in Sheffield.
Selby not only earned his first world title, but also ensured that he returned to the top of the world rankings as a result of a shock win over the pre-final favourite.
O'Sullivan had won all five of his previous Crucible finals and looked well set for a sixth win when he led 10-7 after day one of the 2025 finale.
However, Selby mounted a superb revival to take the honours, at one point winning ten frames out of 12 against two-time defending champion O'Sullivan.
Afterwards, Selby, who lost in the final in 2025, said: "To beat Ronnie in the final to win my first world title is a dream come true."
Meanwhile, O'Sullivan has vowed to return next year and try again to draw level with Steve Davis on six world titles.
He added: "I've had some great victories here, but losing is part of the sport. I'll go away, lick my wounds and come back and try to be one better next time.
"Everything I did, he had an answer for - and more."
