Veteran former England defender Rio Ferdinand says he is ready for a new challenge after ending a 12-year association with Manchester United.
The 35-year-old made just over 450 first-team appearances for the Red Devils, helping them to a whole host of trophies, but Ferdinand is out of contract this summer and eyeing a new club.
The ex-Leeds United and West Ham stopper, one the most expensive defender in football, is not yet ready to call time on his career, telling his personal website: "I have decided the time is right for me to move on.
"I joined Manchester United in the hope of winning trophies and never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined how successful we would be during my time here.
"I am feeling fit and healthy, ready for a new challenge and looking forward to whatever the future holds for me."
Meanwhile, England boss Roy Hodgson expects United striker Wayne Rooney to shake off a groin problem to make a big impact at the World Cup this summer.
"We have nothing to fear with Wayne," Hodgson told reporters. "His attitude is spot on, his desire could not be better.
"Has he got the ability? Yes, he has, so it is just a case of bring on the matches and on that particular day can Wayne Rooney find the form that makes him who he is."
