Stand-in captain Eoin Morgan says England will be positive against his opposite number, Lasith Malinga, when they face World T20 champions Sri Lanka.
The two teams clash in a one-off Twenty20 international at The Oval on Tuesday evening, with Morgan and co looking to make up for a dismal showing at the World Twenty20.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka arrive as the new champions in the shortest form of the game, although they were the one team beaten by England during the recent tournament in Bangladesh.
And Morgan wants his side to continue to work hard to turn around their fortunes in the T20 arena, saying: "You can look back at our T20 World Cup performances, we put in some outstanding performances but never got the results.
"That's incredibly disappointing as a side, when you do play some very good cricket but don't get the rewards.
"But then again, that's the nature of professional sport, just because you work hard it doesn't mean to say that you're going to do well or be rewarded for it."
Meanwhile, Morgan has urged his team-mates to be positive in their approach to facing paceman Malinga, one of the T20 game's outstanding performers.
He added: "He's a world-beater on his day and we'll take precautions against him, but the precautions we take will be to have an attacking mentality."
"He has been the wicket-taker for a long period for Sri Lanka, so finding your own way of negotiating his wicket-taking deliveries is up to everyone."
