World number one Serena Williams insists she doesn't feel any extra pressure as the defending champion ahead of the French Open.

The American star lost just one set in Paris last year as she picked up her second French Open crown, beating Maria Sharapova 6-4 6-4 in the final.

Williams heads into the Grand Slam event, which begins on Sunday, in fine form having won the Rome Masters title last week, dropping just one set in the process.

The 32-year-old admits that she sometimes feels under added pressure when defending a title, but Williams insists she is relaxed ahead of the French Open.

"Usually I'm like, 'Oh my God, I have to defend'. This time I'm going to be cool with it," she said.

"I've been feeling that way for a while now. I think that's a good way to feel, since I won so many titles last year."
