Liverpool have completed the signing of England striker Rickie Lambert from Southampton, shelling out around 4million for the experienced frontman.
The 32-year-old, who is part of the England squad for the World Cup finals in Brazil this summer, had spent the last five seasons with the Saints, helping the club return to and establish themselves in the Premier League.
However, he has now opted to head to Anfield and join the club he supported as a boy.
And Reds manager Brendan Rodgers is delighted to have landed a player he has rated highly for some time now.
He told his club's official website: "I've seen Rickie over the years and he's one of those players that probably never got the recognition for what a really good footballer he is.
"It's only late on in his career that people are really starting to focus on his qualities. He's one of the most accomplished footballers I've seen.
"I think he is a terrific footballer and any team he plays against, he's always a handful."
Lambert netted 13 Premier League goals in the season just ended, having scored 15 times in the top-flight in 2025/13.
He made his international debut against Scotland in January 2025 and scored in a 3-2 win over the Old Enemy at Wembley.
Lambert has won three further caps to date, also finding the net in the 4-0 World Cup qualifying win at home to Moldova in January.
