Andy Murray is looking forward to taking on Gael Monfils at the French Open as he attempts to reach the semi-finals at the second Grand Slam of the year.
The seventh seeded Scot reached the quarter-finals after producing a solid performance to beat Fernando Verdasco 6-4 7-5 7-6.
Monfils is the 23rd seed at his home tournament and Murray will not be taking victory against the talented Frenchman for granted.
"He's a great athlete, maybe the best we've had in tennis," said the 27-year-old. "I think in the Grand Slams he's played his best tennis here by far. He loves playing in front of a big crowd.
"It's going to be an exciting match. I'm sure there will be some fun rallies - there always are when I have played against him."
Murray's victory against Verdasco was all the more impressive as it came so soon after his marathon five-set win against Philipp Kohlschreiber in the previous round.
"I was tired after the match against Kohlschreiber," added Murray. "It was a long match. It was mentally draining as well when you don't have that day to recover and you're coming back on court at 7-7.
"I thought I dictated as many points as I could [against Verdasco]. It's not always possible because you're playing against top tennis players. He's got a lot of firepower as well. I did a good job of that."
