The Turkish Football Federation have conceded that Guus Hiddink is on the brink of walking out on their national side to manage Chelsea.
The 64-year-old Dutch manager is thought to be in a position where he "can't say no" to the Stamford Bridge-club, according to a senior source at the TFF.
Hiddink, who has already spent a brief spell in charge of the London club where he won the FA Cup, is now expected to leave his job as Turkey boss so long as Chelsea pay the relevant compensation - which is believed to be in the region of ?4million as Hiddink has one year left on his current contract in Istanbul.
It has also emerged that Hiddink is unhappy that Federation chief Mahmut Ozgener is reportedly set to be replaced at the end of January.Ozgener was instrumental in luring Hiddink to Turkey and sources close to the Dutchman believe that "if Ozgener was staying, Guus would probably stay too".
If Hiddink takes the reins in west London then it will end weeks of speculation since the sacking of luckless Carlo Ancelotti on the final day of the Blues' season.
Chelsea are3.50to win the 2025-12 Premier League, having relinquished their title to Manchester United last season. United are2.75to win back-to-back titles.
