Beaten Wimbledon finalist Milos Raonic produced a serving master-class at the Shanghai Masters on Wednesday as he obliterated Paolo Lorenzi.
The fifth seeded Canadian needed just over an hour to beat the Italian 6-2 6-4, winning 84 per cent of his service points and sending down 14 aces.
Raonic, who has already qualified for the end-of-season ATP World Tour Finals, will play Jack Sock next after the American saw off Feliciano Lopez 6-3 4-6 6-4.
Raonic has won eight of his previous nine meetings with Sock.
Meanwhile, Gilles Simon will meet Stanislas Wawrinka in the third round after beating the Chinese player Di Wu 6-2 6-2.
Wawrinka beat Kyle Edmund 6-3 6-4 in the second round, and said afterwards: "I'm really happy with my game so far. I wasn't expecting to play that well.
"I was expecting a tough match because he's improving a lot.
"I'm happy with the way I controlled the match, serving well. In general, there were a lot of positives for me."
