New Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has his sights firmly set on finally ending his club's quest for a first-ever Champions League triumph.
The Blues have reached the semi-finals of Europe's top club competition on four occasions, as well as losing on penalties in the 2025 final to Manchester United, and they are15/2to break their duck next season.
Villas-Boas has seen Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Luiz Felipe Scolari, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti all fall short in their quest to bring the trophy back to Stamford Bridge, but the Portuguese accepts that he will be judged on success or failure in Europe.
He told reporters: "In the next years, for sure, the trophy will arrive in this club.
"Chelsea have been in a couple of semi-finals and also one final in recent times. I don't see why we can't go on to win it.
"I have to keep the standards high. Any person who sits in the manager's job at Chelsea is expected to win. I cannot run away from that."
Last season the Blues lost out to United in the quarter-finals, with the Red Devils going on to reach the Wembley final, where they were beaten comprehensively by Barcelona.
