Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed Nani still has a future at Old Trafford despite recent signings.
The Portuguese winger has had doubts cast over his future at the nineteen-time English league champions following the summer acquisition of Aston Villa's Ashley Young. As well as Young's arrival at Old Trafford, Nani is facing stiff competition for his place from Antonio Valencia and was a notable exclusion from last season's Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.
But Ferguson remains optimistic that the 24-year-old winger will feature in United's attempt to win their 20th league title.
The Scot commented: "Nani is a good player and his personality is improving. We will be challenging next season and will play a lot of games.
"Nani was unfortunate not to be picked for the Champions League final, but he is still young and he is maturing all the time."
Ferguson, who has also signed Blackburn's Phil Jones and Spanish Under-21 goalkeeper David de Gea so far this summer, added that Valencia's form towards the end of last season made it "difficult to leave him out of the team." Leading to Nani being sacrificed.
Meanwhile, Ferguson expects midfielder Ji-Sung Park to sign a two-year contract extension imminently.
