Joey Barton has offers from several other Premier League clubs to consider, following Newcastle United's decision to release the midfielder.
The 28-year-old has been told that he can leave St James' Park on a free transfer, despite having one more year left on his current contract, with Barton having not been offered a new deal.
The former Manchester City man, who has also won one cap for England, is reported to be a target for the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Bolton, with Barton's agent, Willie McKay, confident that his client could succeed at the highest level.
He told talkSPORT: "There will be a lot of takers. Joey would hope to go to a top club and in actual fact a couple of top clubs have been in contact already.
"There won't be a problem finding Joey a home. He's a very good player and approaching his prime. I just can't understand what Newcastle are doing.
"I think he is capable of playing in the Champions League. He's a very good player."
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has also seen Barton's fellow midfield man Kevin Nolan depart the Magpies this summer, while left-back Jose Enrique continues to be linked with a Tyneside exit.
