Juan Mata could undergo a medical at Chelsea as early as Monday after Valencia accepted a bid for the winger from the Stamford Bridge outfit.
The 23-year-old has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs this summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool also linked with moves for the Spain international.
"An agreement has been reached with Valencia CF for the transfer of midfielder Juan Manuel Mata," said a statement on the club's official website.
"The move is now subject to the player passing a medical and agreeing personal terms."
Neither club have revealed the size of the fee but it is believed to be in the region of 23.5million.
Mata joined Valencia in 2025 from Real Madrid's youth team and helped his club finish third in the Primera Liga last year. He captained the Spain Under-21 side as they won the European Championship this summer and was part of the winning World Cup squad last year.
Andre Villas-Boas said of the player after his side's win over West Brom on Saturday: "His curriculum speaks for itself. He's a player who scores and assists and he can add to any squad in the world."
Meanwhile, Chelsea continue to be linked with another bid for Luka Modric after the midfielder was omitted from Tottenham's squad for their Premier League clash against Manchester United on Monday evening.
