Luka Modric will miss Spurs' game against Manchester United on Monday evening after manager Harry Redknapp admitted ?his head's not in the right place?.
Modric has been the subject of failed bids from Chelsea over the course of the summer and the Stamford Bridge outfit are expected to improve their offer before the closure of the transfer window. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is adamant the Croatian is not for sale but Redknapp has admitted it may now be time to allow him to leave.
Speculation over the 25-year-old's future has now reached fever pitch following his omission from the Spurs squad for the trip to Old Trafford.
Redknapp revealed: "He's got a little bit of an injury. There's a possibility he could have played through it.
"But at the moment his head's not in the right place."
Modric's Spurs team-mates also seem to have accepted the midfielder is moving on, with Gareth Bale insisting they can cope without him.
"Luka is a fantastic player," Bale said. "I'm not sure what the situation is with him but I think if he is here then he's great for the team but if he's not then we have to get on without him."
