Manchester United youngsters Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Tom Cleverley have been included in the England squad for the Euro 2025 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales.

The trio have been outstanding in United's first three Premier League matches of the season, all of which have been won.

Jones moved to Old Trafford from Blackburn Rovers in the summer and the 19-year-old starred in the 8-2 annihilation of Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

He had been part of Fabio Capello's provisional squad for the friendly with Holland earlier this month that was cancelled because of the riots in London.

He wins his call-up as United team-mate Rio Ferdinand is struggling to recover from the hamstring injury he suffered at West Brom a fortnight ago.

Danny Welbeck would almost certainly also have been included in the England squad but he picked up a hamstring injury in the rout of Arsenal.

Former Fulham defender Smalling was a non-playing member of Capello's squad for the January 2010 friendly defeat by France while Cleverley, who was called up for the Holland game following the withdrawal of Jack Wilshere and Michael Carrick through injury, spent last season on loan at Wigan Athletic.

England are 6.50 to beat Bulgaria 2-0 and 34.00 to thrash their hosts 4-1. The chances of the first goal coming in the 1-10 minute bracket are4.75 and between 41 and 50 minutes 8.00.

"Smalling has improved a lot," said Capello, speaking on Friday. "He has played with confidence. When he goes forward he doesn't play with fear.

"I remember him as a centre-back but he is a really interesting player in this position."

England squad: Hart, Green, Stockdale; A Cole, Cahill, Terry, Baines, Jagielka, Smalling, Jones, Richards, Lescott, Downing, Barry, Johnson, Milner, Lampard, Cleverley, A Young, Parker, Walcott; Bent, Carroll, Rooney, Defoe.
