Danny Welbeck is poised to answer Manchester United's Champion League SOS.
Wayne Rooney has yet to rule himself out of Tuesday's clash against Basle at Old Trafford, having missed Saturday's 1-1 draw at Stoke City due to a slight hamstring strain.
United's medical staff will assess Rooney in training over the next 48 hours but sources have indicated that boss Sir Alex Ferguson will not take any chances.
And against opponents they will be fancied to overcome, Welbeck, who has recently returned from his own hamstring lay-off, has already been put on stand-by.
United are7.00 to win 3-0, while a 1-0 victory is at 8.00. A goalless draw is at 21.00.
Ferguson is limited in his options after Mexican striker Javier Hernandez limped out at the Britannia Stadium, and the Potters' defence did an impressive job of blunting the twin threat of Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov.
Hernandez will also be scanned later today, but Ferguson is not holding out much hope for Rooney to make a rapid recovery.
The Red Devils' chief says: "It's difficult to say with Wayne. It's a hamstring. It's not a serious one. I don't think he will be available."
