South Africa have a moment of destiny within their grasp as they prepare for the second and final Test of the short series against Australia.
Since their return to the Test arena the Proteas have not won a home series against Australia, but having come back from the dead to win the first Test they only need a draw to clinch this series.
Australia look set to give a Test debut to Pat Cummins and the 18-year-old will become his nation's youngest player for 58 years if he starts the game.
It appears Peter Siddle's brave batting will not be sufficient to maintain his place while Trent Copeland is dependable, but that is not a quality required for this tourney. Cummins' healthy pace and aggressive nature will give the tourists their best chance of a win to tie the series.
However, the Australian batting may again be their Achilles heel. Shaun Marsh is injured so Usman Khawaja returns but Phil Hughes' technical problems are well known and Ricky Ponting appears to be waning fast. South Africa have real depth in their batting and Jacques Kallis and AB De Villiers are due a score whilst Jacques Rudolph will be pleased to register a big total after his return to the side in the opener.
Vernon Philander may not be as big a threat but Morne Morkel is set to make up for a below-par first innings performance. Imran Tahir would like a long bowl but the game is likely to be truncated by rain making a draw the most likely result.
Meanwhile, Pakistan are8/11 to win their third ODI against Sri Lanka, who can be backed at 11/10.
