Jamie Carragher's Liverpool future is very much under the microscope right now with numerous clubs coveting the former England defender.
And it's significant that boss Kenny Dalglish chose to hand him a first-half return midway through the very month when the transfer window is open.
Carragher returned to the first team for the first time since January in Saturday's 0-0 draw against Stoke City, but there has to be a chance that the defender will be studying his career options at a club where the pressure increases on the squad week on week.
He's 33 on the 28th of the month and if he's ever to leave this might be the moment although it seems Liverpool are keen to keep him on board to beyond his playing days.
Carragher's first-team recall came as a result of Daniel Agger resting a minor knock and Dalglish opting to play three centre-backs.
In the meantime Steven Gerrard has signed a new deal and agreed to take on an ambassadorial role when hanging up his boots.
Dalglish spoke about the club's desire to also retain Carragher's wealth of knowledge and experience, but the defender was in no mood to respond to that immediately.
He said: "If the manager has mentioned that role, I'm sure we will discuss it in the future. Of course I'd like to stay on, but that's not something I want to talk about at the minute."
Liverpool are currently seventh in the Premier League standings and are3.75 to finish in the top four.
Their next league game sees them head to struggling Bolton Wanderers next Saturday, with Liverpool1.61 to win at the Reebok Stadium and3.75 to claim a draw.
