Manchester United duo Wayne Rooney and Tom Cleverley have been ruled out of England's friendly international against Holland at Wembley on Wednesday.
Stuart Pearce had already lost Darren Bent from his squad after the striker injured an ankle during Aston Villa's goalless draw at Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
Rooney and Cleverley both missed United's last-gasp 2-1 win at Norwich City on Sunday, after which boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "They'll be out. Wayne has still not recovered from his throat infection, so hopefully we'll get him ready for next Sunday, when we have a big game at White Hart Lane."
Meanwhile, Cleverley wrote on Twitter: "Very disappointed not to be joining up with the England squad. And again, it isn't a recurrence of the injury, it's the other leg."
England are11/1to beat Holland 2-0 in a match that was called off six months ago because of the riots in London. The Dutch can be backed at13/2to clinch a 1-0 victory at Wembley.
Cleverley has endured an injury-ravaged season and now faces a race against time to be fit for Euro 2025, which England are9/1to win. The 23-year-old has just two games - against Norway and Belgium - to impress before the final squad has to be submitted.
Following Bent's withdrawal, Pearce now has just Danny Welbeck, Daniel Sturridge and Fraizer Campbell from the strikers he originally selected.
