Novak Djokovic remains on course to win the BNP Paribas Open for a second successive year after beating Kevin Anderson in the third round at Indian Wells.
The 24-year-old Serb ran out a comfortable 6-2 6-3 winner over the South African in California.
The world number one was pleased with his victory, which came in one hour and 37 minutes, saying afterwards: "The opening set, especially the opening five games, took half-an-hour or more.
"He's very aggressive on the return games. He has a great serve, as you can imagine for his height, so I had to return well. I had to just be patient and wait for my chances."
Djokovic is2.10 to win the BNP Paribas Open while Roger Federer can be backed at 4.50, Rafael Nadal at3.75 andJo-Wilfried Tsongaat 26.00.
Elsewhere John Isner beat the 22nd seed Juan Monaco 7-5 7-5, while Mardy Fish crashed out in straight sets to the Australian qualifier Matthew Ebden.
A third American, Andy Roddick, slumped to defeat against seventh seed Tomas Berdych while Frenchman Gilles Simon edged a tight clash with Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka 6-4 6-4.
Spaniard Nicolas Almagro needed three sets to get past Colombia's Santiago Giraldo while Pablo Andujar won his all-Spanish clash with Albert Ramos.
