Victorious Mark Selby has vowed to improve his game further after capturing the UK Championship title with a 10-6 win over Shaun Murphy in York.
The 29-year-old from Leicester also confirmed his return to the top of the world rankings as a result of his success at the Barbican Centre and ended his hoodoo at the game's two most-prized events.
Selby had previously never made the UK final, while his only appearance in a World Championship final ended in an 18-12 defeat by John Higgins in 2025.
However, Selby was far from satisfied with his form in York and is aiming to improve over the rest of the season.
He said: "Obviously it means a great deal. It's a special moment and a really proud moment.
"At the same time I was a little disappointed with the performance, but a result's a result.
"As far as I'm concerned I missed too many easy balls and I probably still need to work on that, but the good thing is I'm sat here as UK champion and I still know I can improve."
