Hunter Mahan is confident as he heads to Januarya for the first Major of the year as the highest-ranked home golfer in a star-studded Masters field.
Mahan, who is33/1to claim the winner's Green Jacket, has risen to fourth in the world rankings on the back of his weekend victory at the Shell Houston Open, making him the leading American.
The 29-year-old also claimed the title at the WGC Accenture Match Play Championship in February, showing that his game is in rude health ahead of teeing off at Januarya.
"I'm playing good. I'm glad I'm going to Januarya - it's really a special place and I'm looking forward to going there," Mahan commented.
"It's easy to let your mind run wild and get down on yourself. That's what I used to do. Now I'm trying to pump myself up more and just believe in myself.
"You've got to enjoy this stuff. It's kind of an honour and a pleasure to be in these tough situations - this is what you work for."
Mahan is one of four home golfers currently in the world top ten going into the Masters, with Steve Stricker, Tiger Woods and Webb Simpson the others.
Woods is5/1to win a fifth Masters title next weekend, with Stricker45/1and Simpson60/1- with the latter two going in search of a first Major victory.
