Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has called on his side to make one more 'big effort' to clinch the Premier League title next weekend.
Mancini, whose side are now1/9to win the title, was speaking after seeing his team secure a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United to remain top of the table ahead of Manchester United on goal difference.
The Citizens now only need to win at home to Queens Park Rangers next Sunday to be crowned champions, but the Hoops are battling to avoid the drop and Mancini is expecting one final major challenge.
He told reporters: "It is not finished. It is important that we get three points next week. We need a big effort - there is one game more.
"QPR will be tough, they are fighting to avoid relegation. Nothing changes. It is ours to lose, it doesn't depend on other teams any more."
City are1/8to claim the all-important three points at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday and are13/2to win by a 1-0 scoreline.
Meanwhile, United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, whose side are6/1to be champions, retains hope that City may falter at the last, with his side having won 2-0 at home to Swansea City to remain level on points with their rivals.
With a trip to Sunderland the final stop for United, Ferguson said: "They're red-hot favourites, but we've won the title on three occasions on the last day and we don't mind doing it again.
"QPR need a point and they're fighting for survival. Stranger things have happened in this game of football."
