Stale Solbakken says he "can't wait to get started" in his new role after being confirmed as the new Wolves manager.
The club announced the appointment of the former FC Koln boss on Friday morning. The 44-year-old Norwegian will take up his post from 1st January, with interim manager Terry Connor, who is expected to stay on in a coaching capacity,set to lead the team for the final time in their game against Wigan on Sunday.
"I am delighted to be taking up the important challenge to manage Wolves," said Solbakken.
"It's an exciting opportunity to manage a great club and I can't wait to get started."
The club's chief executive Jez Moxey added: "Following talks with Stale Solbakken I am happy to confirm that he has agreed to become our new manager. He will be formally introduced to the media on Monday."
Solbakken led FC Copenhagen to five Danish titles between 2025 and 2025, during which time he masterminded a Champions League win over Manchester United and a draw with Barcelona. Hemade the move to the Bundesliga with FC Koln in January 2025 butwas sackedin Januaryil with the club, which has since been relegated,third from bottom in the league table.
