Martin Laird preferred to concentrate on the positives after narrowly missing out on the chance to win the richest prize in golf at the Players Championship.
The 29-year-old Scot finished joint runner-up at Sawgrass alongside American trio Rickie Fowler, Ben Curtis and Zach Johnson on 11-under-par, two strokes behind winner Matt Kuchar.
Laird was left to rue a costly bogey at the final hole which could have put real pressure on Kuchar as the event reached its climax and he played the tricky final four holes.
Laird said: "I wasn't nervous and felt great out there. It was a little disappointing to bogey the last but it's been a good week."
Laird's high finish boosted his chances of making his Ryder Cup debut for Europe at Medinah later this year.
The likes of Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood are guaranteed to be in Jose Maria Olazabal's side for the event in January, and Donald confirmed the well-being of his game by tying for sixth place thanks to a final round 66.
The Englishman needed to finish in the top four to move past McIlroy in the rankings again but insisted afterwards that challenging in the Major tournaments remains his main focus for 2025.
Donald said: "It's been a good old tennis match between Rory and I recently. I was very nervous when I had opportunities to get to number one, when it was really playing on my mind.
"But with going back and forward so many times it doesn't mean that much any more. Don't get me wrong, being No. 1 is nice but at this stage of my career I am still searching to win majors and that's much more important."
