Andrew Strauss led England's reply as the home side reached 80-1 at lunch on the second day of the first Test, chasing the West Indies' total of 243.
Strauss' side are now1/7to win the match, with the West Indies at25/1 and the draw6/1.
The tourists' first innings was ended by Stuart Broad with the first ball of the day, giving the England bowler new career-best figures of 7 for 72. He saw off Shannon Gabriel for a golden duck, the debutant edging the delivery to Graeme Swann.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul was left not out with a fine innings of 87.
Strauss and Alastair Cook opened for England and were going nicely until the 12th over, when Kemar Roach made the breakthrough for the West Indies. Cook, looking out-of-sorts,dragged the ball onto his own stumps, leaving the field for 26 runs.
Jonathan Trott joined the action with the score at 47-1 and he and Strauss comfortably moved the score on to 80-1 at lunch.
