Luke Donald is delighted to be back on familiar ground this week and is relishing the chance to defend his BMW PGA Championship title - and return to the top of the world rankings.
Donald took over the world number one spot for the first time in his career 12 months ago after beating fellow Englishman Lee Westwood in a play-off.
Despite already having won on the PGA Tour, the world number two has yet to hit the heights of last season when he became the first player in history to top the money lists on both sides of the Atlantic.
But Donald showed that he is close to returning to that sort of form by coming storming through the field to finish joint-fifth at the Players Championship nine days ago and is looking forward to the week ahead.
He is8.50to win the BMW PGA Championship while Rory McIlroy can be backed at12.00, Ross Fisher at76.00and Westwood at12.00.
Donald said: "It's always nice to come back as defending champion. You always come back with great memories. Obviously last year was one of the highlights of my career. Coming down the stretch with Lee, going into a play-off with Lee and having the number one world ranking on the line... but also a huge event on the line too.
"I'm excited to be back and hopefully it'll be more of the same. Obviously I'm back in a similar position this year. I've held the number one spot for most of the time since I got it at Wentworth last year but I'm back to number two again, just slightly behind Rory (McIlroy), so I've got an opportunity to try and overtake him again."
There have been significant changes to Wentworth's West Course since the days when Donald used to watch the event as a youngster.
The Surrey course has undergone further alterations since Donald's victory last year but he revealed he remains as excited as ever about playing in the event.
Donald added: "I grew up just down the road, watching this event, came here as a young kid watching some of the guys playing around here so it's always meant so much to me and to win this one and get to number one was really special."
