Nottingham Forest have announced manager Steve Cotterill has been relieved of his duties just nine months after taking up the role.
The Championship club was taken over by the Kuwaiti-based Al-Hasawi family on Tuesday and the new owners have moved quickly as they begin to implement their plans.
Cotterill met with the new regime on Wednesday and was informed of their decision to take the club in a new direction. They are now3.75to be promoted, and9.00to win the Championship title next season.
"Nottingham Forest can confirm that manager Steve Cotterill has departed the club with immediate effect," the club confirmed on their official website.
"Mr Cotterill met with the club's new owners, the Al-Hasawi family, yesterday and after long deliberations they have decided to make a new appointment in a bid to deliver their long-term vision.
"The club would like to acknowledge their gratitude to Mr Cotterill for guiding it through an extremely difficult and traumatic period and for retaining the side's Championship status last season."
Cotterill took up the reins at Forest last January on a three-and-a-half year deal following the sacking of Steve McClaren, guiding them to 19th in the Championship after a relegation scare. The club will now begin the search for a new manager, and have already been linked with Alex McLeish, Mick McCarthy and Neil Warnock.
