Brett Lee has confirmed his retirement from all forms of international cricket following the recent one day series in England.

The 35-year-old had to cut short his time in England recently after picking up a calf injury midway through what turned out to be a disastrous series for the Baggy Greens.

Lee's latest injury setback ruled him out of the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup campaign, a tournament Australia are5.50to win.

The competition in Sri Lanka was expected to be Lee's swansong but after another injury setback he has decided to call time on an international career which has spanned 13 years.

"In a team environment you have to have 100% commitment, mentally and physically," Lee told Australia's Channel 9.

"Looking at the next few months, I just didn't have that desire any more. It wouldn't be fair on me, or my team if I went with that attitude."

Lee retired from Test cricket in 2010 after taking 310 wickets at an average of 30.81 in 76 matches.

The aggressive pacemen ends his one day career with 380 wickets from 221 matches, falling one wicket short of Glenn McGrath's record haul of 381 wickets from ODI matches.

Australia will hope their crop of young fast bowlers can replace Lee, with Pat Cummins, James Pattinson and Mitchell Starc all tipped to have bright futures.

The trio could feature in next year's Ashes series, a contest Australia are3.75 to win, with England1.61and the draw5.50.
