Rafael van der Vaart has admitted he empathises with Spurs team-mate Luka Modric, who has not joined the squad on their pre-season trip to the United States.
Modric seems certain to leave White Hart Lane this summer and is being targeted by Spanish giants Real Madrid, as well as clubs in the Premier League.

"I've been one of the closest people to Modric in the dressing room and I feel for him. It is a difficult situation.
"The chairman is angry, but Luka is very upset with what is happening. I think everything will be fixed in three or four days."
