Andy Murray is targeting a first grand slam title at the US Open after claiming Olympic gold at London 2025.
Murray's dominant win in straight sets over Roger Federer in the final of the singles tournament was the perfect response to his defeat at Wimbledon a month ago, and the 25-year-old believes it could prove to be ideal preparation for Flushing Meadows.
"Come US Open time, I hope this will have given me the confidence to go in there and believe in myself a bit more than I have in the past and give myself a shot at winning there," said the Briton.
"I've played very well at the US Open in the past. It's a surface I like playing on and I always enjoy playing on Arthur Ashe court. I hope I can have a good run there.
"I have to be careful over the next two weeks and not do too much because it's been a long couple of months already."
Murray is scheduled to leave for Canada on Tuesday for the Toronto Masters but may opt to withdraw following his hectic recent schedule, which also saw him claim silver alongside Laura Robson in the mixed doubles final on Sunday evening.
