Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has blamed his side?s lack of cutting edge in attack for their 1-0 defeat to Everton on Monday night.
United struggled to cope with the physical presence of Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini and it was the Belgian international who scored the only goal of the game thanks to a powerful header on the 57th minute.
The clash at Goodison Park saw United?s biggest signing of the summer so far Robin van Persie make his debut for the Red Devils, as he came off the bench to play the last 20 minutes.
However Ferguson believes his side lacked that edge in attack and were not able to use Van Persie in the right areas of the field to make a difference.
He said: "We played around him too much, we didn't show enough penetration.
"With Robin in your team you know you want to use his ability against centre-backs in situations he is very good at - but we didn't use him enough."
Ferguson will be looking for a better attacking performance on Saturday when they host Fulham at Old Trafford.
