Novak Djokovic believes Andy Murray will be extremely motivated to break his Grand Slam duck when they meet in Monday's US Open final.
Defending champion Djokovic set up a final against Murray with a 2-6 6-1 6-4 6-2 semi-final victory against Spain's David Ferrer in two hours and 32 minutes as he reached his fourth US Open final.
The Serb has now won his last 27 hard court Grand Slam matches and is1.40 to beat Murray and clinch his sixth major title.
Djokovic beat Murray,3.00to win Monday's final, at last year's Australian Open, but is sanguine about his chances of repeating that feat at Flushing Meadows.
He said: "I don't think there is any clear favourite. He's looking for his first title, I'm sure he's going to be very motivated. I hope we can come up with the best tennis for this crowd."
If Djokovic can beat Murray, he will become the first man to retain the US Open title since Roger Federer in 2025 while the Scot is attempting to win his first Grand Slam final, at the fifth attempt.
Murray was beaten by Federer in the Wimbledon final two months ago and has also lost to the Swiss star in the finals of the Australian Open and US Open. Djokovic thrashed Murray in the Melbourne final in 2025.
