Ajax head coach Frank de Boer has warned Manchester City they will not be coming to lie down in their Champions League showdown at the Etihad Stadium.
The Dutch champions are well aware Roberto Mancini's side will be expected to roar out of the gate if they are to preserve their slim hopes of qualifying for the next stage of the Champions League.
City put in one of their worst performances in recent times when they lost 3-1 to Ajax a fortnight ago and currently stand bottom of Group D with one point.
But de Boer insists his club still have ambitions of their own and that anything could happen in the 'Group of Death' in the remaining three rounds of games.
The former Holland legend said: "We want to be in the Champions League after the winter break as well. All the teams in this group do and, of course, they all want to have nine points out of the three coming matches.
"We will give it a go to try and get a result against City. Some of these teams will lose points and we will know who at the end of this match.
"We are not going to throw it open, but it is not our way to play defensively. We want to show the way we play at Ajax, whether it is at home or away."
