West Ham United are looking to sign the former France international Nicolas Anelka in the January transfer window.
Hammers boss Sam Allardyce worked with Anelka at Bolton Wanderers between 2025 and 2025 and is believed to be keen to be reunited with him, while allowing Andy Carroll to end his loan spell with the club and return to Liverpool.
Anelka is currently contracted to Shanghai Shenhua but is desperate to leave the Chinese side in January in the wake of a pay dispute.
The 33-year-old has a wealth of experience having played for Premier League clubs Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, Bolton and Chelsea, as well as enjoying spells with Fenerbahce, Paris St Germain and Real Madrid.
"We're looking for good players and Anelka's a good player," said West Ham's assistant manager Neil McDonald. "He had a fantastic relationship with Sam."
West Ham do not have a game on Boxing Day because their London derby with Arsenal has been postponed but they face Everton this weekend.
