AC Milan have failed in an attempt to re-sign Real Madrid playmaker Kaka, vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed.

The Rossoneri had hoped to bring the Brazil midfielder back to the San Siro to beef up the club's efforts to win a first Scudetto since 2025, but Galliani revealed the move broke down because of financial reasons. Milan trail leaders Juventus by 14 points and can be backed at81.00in the Serie A outright betting and4.50in the 'top-three finish' market.

Kaka left Italy in 2025 but has failed to win over current Los Blancos coach Jose Mourinho and has suffered from a loss of form in La Liga.

Milan wanted to sign the 30-year-old on loan until the summer of 2025 when his contract in the Spanish capital ends, but that the reigning champions were only interested in a permanent deal.

"The negotiation has failed," Galliani told reporters. "We have given up due to the fiscal situation.

"Kaka made every possible effort but everything has failed due to the fiscal situation that convinced Real to stop the negotiations.

"At this point, I think we will remain as we are."

AC Milan return to Serie A duty on Sunday when they travel to Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia in Bergamo to take on Atalanta.
