Manchester United defender Jonny Evans appears to be winning his race to be fit for this weekend's FA Cup clash with Fulham.
The utility player missed the last three games with a hamstring strain while the Northern Ireland international has been receiving intensive treatment.
Evans has seemingly established himself ahead of Phil Jones and Chris Smalling as Sir Alex Ferguson's preferred third-choice centre-back this term.
And the 25-year-old's form has even seen him split the partnership of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand on a number of occasions.
Evans is also hoping he will now get the nod for the visit of Martin Jol's team, with Sir Alex keen to get the defender up to speed once more.
Evans insists: "When I first came into the squad, the level Rio and Vida were playing at was unbelievable.
"For me, coming through the youth team, looking at these two fantastic players, it was about trying to get to that level. I have just tried to be as good as I can be. That's been the challenge.
"It's all about having patience. I'm older, more experienced and more confident, so I just relax more."
Meanwhile there are fears striker Wayne Rooney may miss out against the Cottagers after taking a bang on the knee at the club's winter training camp in Qatar.
United are8.00to win this weekend's fourth-round tie 3-0 and are5.00to secure this season's FA Cup.
