Spurs striker Jermain Defoe and Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick have withdrawn from the England squad to take on Brazil at Wembley on Wednesday.
Defoe suffered an ankle injury during his side's 1-0 win at West Brom on Sunday, while Carrick is being troubled by a hip injury, despite finishing the full 90 minutes of United's 1-0 victory at Fulham.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas fears that Defoe could be sidelined for some time, as he said: "He rolled his ankle. He will have to have a scan to reveal the extent of the injury.
"Hopefully there is not a lot of ligament damage. If there is, he could be out for two to three weeks.
"Has he been withdrawn from the England squad? Yes he has."
Meanwhile, in-form Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge also looks set to miss the prestige friendly against Brazil due to a thigh problem he sustained after scoring in the 2-2 draw at Manchester City.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers confirmed: "He got a knock just before half-time on his thigh and he wanted to give it a go in the second half.
"I think he will be a doubt for the game on Wednesday, which is unfortunate because he was terrific today."
