Nottingham Forest are searching for a new manager after parting company with the former Aston Villa and Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish.
The 54-year-old had only taken charge at The City Ground less than six weeks ago but was thought to be unhappy with the club's failure to sign George Boyd from Peterborough United on transfer deadline day.
It has been an extremely traumatic period for Forest as they have already had four managers in the last 20 months ? Steve McClaren, Steve Cotterill, Sean O'Driscoll and McLeish.
McLeish said in a statement issued on the Championship side's official website: "I'm extremely saddened to be leaving after such a short period but, even so, it has been a privilege to be manager of such a fantastic football club and I want to thank the players, staff and fans for their support and wish Nottingham Forest the best of fortunes ahead.
"Both parties entered into the relationship in good faith, however, there was a difference in the understanding of the development strategy of the football club and it was felt by both parties that we should part company."
