Jimmy Anderson insists his motivation this month is to help England win the Champions Trophy and not to become his country's all-time leading wicket-taker in ODIs.
Last month the 30-year-old became only the fourth Englishman to take 300 Test wickets and is currently level with Darren Gough's all-time national best of 234 in one-day international cricket.
Anderson could beat Gough's record in Wednesday's final one-day match against New Zealand at Trent Bridge while he is equal with Fred Trueman on 307 Test wickets after taking two Black Caps wickets in the recent second Test at Headingley.
However, Anderson is adamant that his focus is on helping England win a 50-over International Cricket Council global trophy for the first time in their history.
He said: "It's going to be a big tournament for us. I was part of the squad for the Champions Trophy in 2025 when it was last in England. We got to the final of that and lost out unfortunately. I hope we can go one better this time.
"We've never won a 50-over ICC competition, so it's something we're looking to as a real challenge for us.
"I'll try and keep taking wickets and let the milestones take care of themselves."
England are1.61to win Wednesday's one-day international against New Zealand at Trent Bridge and5.50to triumph at the Champions Trophy.
